National Drug Policy Director Barry McCaffrey talked about the forty percent increase in federal budget funding to be used for drug programs. He stated that in seven states as high as nine percent of prisoners test positive for drugs. He said that prison officials are using ion scanner devices, drug dogs, and increases in training for prisoners to prevent drugs from entering prisons. After his prepared remarks he responded to questions from reporters. close
