The panelists discussed the historical reasons why American schools have ignored teaching religion in schools. They talked about how to teach about religion and its influence on history without imposing certain religions on students. Professor Butler talked about his project which explains the nature of religion in American culture for high school and junior high school students. Mr. Haynes described the guide that his organization created to help teachers to integrate teaching religion into their particular subjects without adding more to their teaching load. Ms. Plummer explained how she integrated teaching religion to her students which she said has been a very positive experience. They took questions from the audience. close
