Secretary Albright spoke about U.S.-Iranian relations, including the possibility for return of assets seized following the 1979 Islamic revolution there. She praised Iran’s democratic elections and stated that the U.S. should seek to expand and broaden cultural and political exchange, and will examine the lifting of sanctions. The warming of relations is indicative of a general spirit of reform in Iran, but the held assets have hindered dialogue between the two countries. close
