President George H. W. Bush spoke to reporters at the White House following the House and Senate votes allowing the president to use force in the Persian Gulf. President Bush said the results are a solid show of support for the enforcement of the U.N. resolution allowing the use of force to remove Iraqi forces from Kuwait. President Bush said that he would prefer to use force to remove Iraqi troops from Kuwait “sooner, rather than later.” close
