Mr. Jason Goodwin talked about his book Greenback: The Almighty Dollar and the Invention of America, published by Henry Holt and Company. Mr. Goodwin explains that the idea of using paper instead of gold or silver as currency started in the colonies and describes its role in western expansionism. The book includes depictions of the politicians, artists, engravers, con men, bankers, and thieves who played a role in the story of America’s money. After his presentation the author answered questions from members of the audience. close
