Questions to the prime minister were focused on the Persian Gulf, in particular, the sale of British arms to Iraq before August 2, 1990. At the end of the prime minister’s question time, the British Secretary of Defense, Tom King, announced an agreement with the United States to allow more U.S. B-52 planes to be based out of British airfields. This agreement was a result of Vice President Dan Quayle’s recent visit. close
