Rick and Rhonda Hyman talked about their book My Texas Family: An Uncommon Journey to Prosperity, published by Arcadia Tempus Publishing Group. The book uses family history and memorabilia including 300 black and white photographs from 1912 to 1927 to tell the story of a little known generation of their family that when freed from slavery journeyed from Virginia to Texas by covered wagon and found prosperity. They read passages from the book and answered questions from the audience. close
