Author Robert Reich discussed his book The Future of Success, published by Knopf, which analyzed the new economy and its impact on Americans' work and personal lives. He asserted that the fast pace of the global information-age economy resulted in more stress and less free time for individuals and more economic and social stratification in the country. In a talk illustrated with many anecdotes, he spelled out the sacrifices people made for their jobs and recommended that we as a nation recognize the personal costs of the new economy and correct for its excesses. After his remarks, he answered questions from the audience. close
