Attorney General John Ashcroft spoke to reporters about efforts to end the practice of racial profiling, saying that he would ask Congress to enact legislation making the practice illegal. He also said that the Justice Department would conduct a review of federal law enforcement’s use of race as a factor in their work. Following his remarks he answered questions from reporters. close
