William Styple discussed his book, "Writing and Fighting the Civil War: Soldier Correspondence to the New York Sunday Mercury", published by Belle Grove Publishing Company. The book is a compilation of correspondence by soldiers to the newspaper that chronicles the events of the Civil War from the perspective of those on the battlefront. Mr. Styple explained how he chose this collection of about 500 letters from the 3,000 letters he obtained. In addition, he highlighted some of his favorite correspondence from the book. After his presentation he answered questions from members of the audience. close
