The House convened, starting a new legislative day.

The Speaker designated the Honorable Steven C. LaTourette to act as Speaker pro tempore for today.

Today’s prayer was offered by Rev. Robert Gannon, Pastor of Our Lady Queen of Peace Roman Catholic Church of Staten Island, New York.

JOURNAL PROCEEDINGS POSTPONED - Mr. McNulty objected to the voice vote agreeing to the Speaker’s approval of the Journal of Wednesday, June 6, pending the absence of a quorum. The Chair postponed further proceedings of the Journal until later in the day pursuant to clause 8 of rule XX, and the point of no quorum was withdrawn.

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE - The Chair designated Mr. Moran of VA to lead the Members in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.

The House received a message from the Senate. The Senate agreed to S. Res. 101, H. Con. Res. 80, and H. Con. Res. 149.

The Chair recognized Mr. Fossella for the purpose of introducing the guest Chaplain.
