Dr. John Hope Franklin read the opening chapters of his forthcoming autobiography titled The Vintage Years to be published by Amistad Press, a unit of HarperCollins. Each chapter begins with a description of obstacles faced by his parents in the South at the beginning of the twentieth century. Dr. Franklin traced his life and experiences with racism from early childhood to his acceptance into Harvard Graduate School. After his prepared remarks he answered questions from members of the audience. close
