House Minority Leader Richard Gephardt (D-Missouri) and Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle (D-South Dakota), spoke to reporters about a Social Security Commission report which recommended partial privatization of the program. They said the report was both misleading and misguided, employing scare tactics to push the president’s plan. Henry Aaron of the Brookings Institution also made comments.
