Following a meeting with Secretary Powell, Muslim and Arab leaders spoke to reporters about violence in the Middle East, the White House response to the violence, and the need to reestablish peace negotiations. They criticized the administration for a weak response and listed several suggestions they had presented Secretary Powell to ensure the security of both Palestinians and Israelis.
