Attorney General Ashcroft held a press conference at the Jusice Department, where he announced new proposals to track and monitor foreign travelers in the United States. The system would require travelers to register at the border with fingerprints and photographs and report to authorities if staying longer than 30 days. The program would also categorize visitors by risk level for terrorist activities and provide for stricter exit control measures. Following his remarks he answered questions from reporters. close
