Professor Ferris talked about and read excerpts from his book, Seeing in the Dark: How Backyard Stargazers Are Probing Deep Space and Guarding Earth from Interplanetary Peril, published by Simon and Schuster. The book is about amateur astronomy and its contribution to our understanding of the universe. He showed a slide presentation of his and other amateur astronomers' photography and he discussed the workings of a Dobsonian telescope (present on the stage). Following his talk, Professor Ferris took questions from the audience. close
