As part of a black-tie dinner, John Aubuchon presented the National Press Club’s Fourth Estate Award to Brian Lamb, the CEO of C-SPAN television networks. The award is for lifetime achievement in journalism. The speakers praised Mr. Lamb and talked about their experiences with him and about the history of the C-SPAN networks.
Mr. Lamb also addressed the audience. He attributed the success of C-SPAN to journalists in the audience who agreed to be interviewed in the early days of C-SPAN and who let C-SPAN cameras into their events. He also thanked the C-SPAN employees who helped build the network, including two in the audience who helped mount the first microwave transmitter on the top of the building.
A video presentation showed all the NPC presidents during the time C-SPAN has carried National Press Club luncheons and many of the public figures who addressed the club. The music during the video presentation is not included due to copyright restrictions. close
