Members of the Shuttle Columbia Accident Investigation Board briefed reporters on the status of the investigation into the loss of the Space Shuttle Columbia in Houston, Texas. Columbia Accident Investigation Board Chairman, Admiral Harold Gehman (USN Retired) was joined by Major General Kenneth Hess, the Chief of Safety of the U.S. Air Force, Major General John Barry, Plans and Programs Director of the U.S. Air Force Material Command and Sheila Windnall, Professor of Aeronautics & Astronautics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. During the briefing the showed a new video of the shuttle launch which showed foreign material striking the wing of the shuttle. close
