On Wednesday, July 2, Republican National Committee Senior Adviser Ed Gillespie spoke at the Leadership Institute in Arlington, Virginia. President Bush selected him to replace Marc Racicot as Republican National Committee Chairman. R.N.C. members are expected to affirm the President’s recommendation at their summer meeting later this month. He was introduced by Mr. Bailes. Mr. Gillespie talked about grassroots activism and the Republican prospects for the 2004 election. He also responded to questions from members of the audience.
The two leading Libertarian presidential candidates, Michael Badnarik and Gary Nolan, spoke at a Libertarian Party presidential candidate dinner in Belton, Missouri. The Cass County and Jackson County, Missouri Libertarian Party hosted the event on June 9, 2003 which was moderated by Mr. Ferguson. After their speeches the candidates responded to questions from members of the audience.
