Human trafficking was estimated to be a $9.5 billion per year business. An estimated 50,000 people enter the United States illegally every year. The hearing focused on human smuggling and trafficking crimes, and whether or not law enforcement officials and prosecutors had adequate tools and resources to combat them. close
