President Bush spoke in the White House Rose Garden in a ceremony marking “Small Business Week.” In his remarks, the president welcomed small business leaders to the White House and discussed the importance of the nation’s 20 million owners of small businesses to the American system of free enterprise. He recognized owners of small businesses for their success and skill in creating lucrative business enterprises. He also handed out the Small Business Administration’s annual awards for excellence in small business affairs. During his speech, the president made references to his brief hospitalization of the previous weekend for heart palpitations. close
