Mr. Humes talked about his book, School of Dreams: Making the Grade at a Top American High School, published by Harcourt. The author spent a year teaching at Whitney High School in order to study the elements of a successful school. Located in Cerritos, California, Whitney High School is one of America’s top-ranked public schools. Mr. Humes writes that a dedicated faculty core, an accelerated workload, and a focus on producing well-rounded students are the keys to a successful school.
