During an installment of Close Up at the Newseum sponsored by the Close Up Foundation Charles Haynes, Director of the Education Program at the First Amendment Center, and representatives of two schools in the First Amendment School project, sponsored by the First Amendment Center, talked about schools that teach the rights and responsibilities of the First Amendment. They said that schools should model democracy and freedom rather than use the prison model now in effect in most schools. The participants answered questions from high school students in the audience. close
