Three of the nine Democratic presidential candidates debated a variety of domestic issues. Mr. Alan moderated the debate. The candidates responded to questions from Mr. DePuyt, Mr. Plotnick, Mr. King. Then each candidate asked questions of the other candidates before the closing statements. Among the issues addressed were school vouchers, the space program, gun control, health care, military spending, as well as many aspects of the governance of Washington, D.C. and providing representation for the district. All of the candidates supported statehood for the district. During the radio station breaks for traffic and weather updates video reports about the January 13, 2004 Washington, D.C. Democratic presidential preference primary and some of the candidates were shown by News Channel 8. The debate was briefly disrupted by a heckler. close
