Panelists talked about the importation of prescription drugs. All panelists opposed importation. Among the reasons given were the likelihood that imported drugs might be dangerous, expired, improperly handled, or ineffective; the production and sale of harmful drugs by terrorists; the low probability of holding a foreign manufacturer or distributor legally responsible for damages; and the possible legal repercussions of importing drugs in violation of federal law. Slides were shown during some presentations. Following prepared remarks, panelists responded to questions from the audience. close
