Professor Fukuyama spoke about his book State-Building: Governance and World Order in the 21st Century, published by Cornell University Press. In the book, Professor Fukuyama argues that the development of strong state institutions is an integral factor in creating stable states. He says that while there was a time when privatization was seen as one of the most important ingredients for reforming failing states, now the focus is on building up essential government institutions.
