Senator John McCain spoke at the Nackey S. Loeb First Amendment Award dinner. The dinner honored Tom Kearney who won the First Amendment Award as a “New Hampshire individual or organization whose actions reinforce the freedoms protected by the First Amendment.” Senator McCain spoke about the 2004 presidential campaign and the results of the election. He spoke about partisanship in Washington politics. He argued, “I really don’t think the country is polarized at all.” He noted that, while there are important distinctions between the two major political parties, there is near unanimous agreement on the core values of democracy and freedom. The dinner was held at the Raddisson Hotel Center of New Hampshire. close
