Following a brief video, USAID officials announced the findings of a major vaccine trial in Gambia. The trial of large numbers of children in a typically rural African setting showed that preventing pneumococcal pneumonia and meningitis by vaccinating infants could lead to a major reduction in child mortality in developing countries. Some of the key investigators explained the clinical trial vaccination process and talked about the pathogens involved in pneumonia and meningitis. The participants answered reporters' questions close
