Indian Defense Minister Pranab Mukherjee spoke about India’s strategic perspectives. He addressed his country’s key strategic priorities as historical, security, economic, and global decision-making deficits. Defense Minister Mukherjee discussed the challenge of reintegrating India with their immediate neighbor, conflicts over boundaries, and threats to security from spillovers of internal conflicts in neighboring countries. He also talked about India’s energy deficit and United Nations Security Council reform. Minister Mukherjee spoke of the necessity for the United States and India to work together with the international community to find a new order for the 21st century. Following his remarks, he responded to questions and comments from members of the audience. close
