Global leaders convened in New York from September 15-17, 2005, for the inaugural meeting of the Clinton Global Initiative. The conference tackled critical issues, including poverty and religious conflict, through workshops where participants could discuss and identify an agenda to be implemented over the course of the year.

During the morning plenary session of the second day, panelists discussed “What’s Next in the Middle East.” Representatives from the Palestinian Authority, government of Israel, and retired World Bank president Wolfensohn discussed topics including the withdrawal of Israelis from Palestine and the maintaining security in Gaza. close
