At an official “hail and farewell” ceremony with units of the various branches of the armed services passing in review, participants saluted the career and accomplishments of Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Richard Myers. President Bush, Secretary Rumsfeld and other officials attended the change of command ceremony marking the retirement of Air Force General Myers, the 15th chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and Marine Corps General Pace, upcoming 16th chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Gen. Pace’s duties begin today. The ceremony also included a medal ceremony, Air Force flyover, and traditional martial music. close
