Lieutenant General Strock, commander of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, briefed reporters on operations along the Gulf Coast by Corps of Engineers units charged with response and recovery from damage done by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Among the issues he addressed were the state of the region’s infrastructure, coordination with other federal agencies, and the challenges of undertaking long-term public works projects to effect repairs. He also answered questions from the reporters. close
