Katherine Skiba talked about her experiences as a journalist in Iraq. She was among the first wave of journalists to be embedded with soldiers during the invasion of Iraq. She traveled to Iraq with the 159th Aviation Brigade and came under fire during the early stages of the war. As one of only 60 female reporters in Iraq, she detailed her experiences as the only female civilian among 2,300 soldiers. Ms. Skiba talked about her interaction with the soldiers, from “media boot camp” to the end of her assignment. She also answered questions from members of the audience.
