Anna-Lisa Cox talked about her book, A Stronger Kinship: One Town’s Extraordinary Story of Hope and Faith, published by Little, Brown. In this discussion, she revealed how Covert, a little township along Lake Michigan, became a community where pioneers of various races were able to live in the years just after the Civil War. According to Ms. Cox, the citizens of Covert disregarded racist laws and conventions and formed a community based on their common humanity. After her presentation she answered audience members' questions. close
