The Close Up Foundation and the Wilson Center hosted a panel on the state of democracy in Africa with United Nations officials. Among the topics addressed were the United Nation’s role in Africa, UN interactions with home countries and the international community, promotion of democratic principles throughout Africa, and the strengths and weaknesses in the UN’s efforts and policies throughout Africa. The panelists answered questions from the New York City middle and high school students in the audience. close
