This week’s America and the Courts includes portions of a judicial confirmation hearing.
On Tuesday, September 26, 2006, the Senate Judiciary Committee considered the nomination of Mississippi attorney Michael Wallace to the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. President Bush nominated Michael Wallace in February 2006 to fill the seat vacated by Charles Pickering, whose recess appointment expired. Michael Wallace received a unanimous “not qualified” rating from the American Bar Association’s 15-member panel. It was the first unqualified rating given to an appellate court nominee since 1982.
