Susan Buckley and Elspeth Leacock talked about their new illustrated history books for young readers, Journeys for Freedom: A New Look at America’s Story (illustrated by Rodica Prato) and Kids Make History: A New Look at America’s Story (illustrated by Randy Jones), both published by Houghton Mifflin, at the 16th anniversary celebration of Aladdin’s Lamp Children’s Books and Other Treasures. Journeys for Freedom details the personal stories of 20 individuals who have fought for freedom and Kids Make History highlights the experiences of young people. They showed slides of illustrations from the books and responded to audience members' questions. close
