On Thursday, August 19, 1976, President Gerald R. Ford accepted the nomination to be the 1976 Republican candidate for president at the Republican National Convention held in Kemper Arena in Kansas City, Missouri.

On Wednesday, November 3, 1987, President Ford delivered a concession speech after losing the 1976 presidential election to Jimmy Carter. He spoke with his family standing behind him. Mrs. Ford also spoke, thanking all their campaign supporters.
