Mr. Kimura outlined the goals of the Japanese government for the 1991 economic summit. He believed that two of the primary goals of the summit would be to finish trade negotiations regarding the Uruguay round of talks and to discuss specific military proposals concerning weapons of “mass destruction.” Mr. Kimura explained the current U.S.-Japan trade agreements and offered his opinion of the possibility of a North American trade agreement between the United States, Canada, and Mexico. He concluded by stating that leaders in London would have the ability to accomplish substantial goals during the summit meetings. close
