Robert Coram talked about his book American Patriot: The Life and Wars of Colonel Bud Day, published by Little, Brown and Company. He recounted the life of Colonel Day, whose thirty-five-year military career included service in the Amy, Marines, and Air Force. Colonel Day fought in World War II, Korea and the Vietnam War and spent almost six years imprisoned in the “Hanoi Hilton,” where Senator John McCain was also held for several years. Medal of Honor recipient Day set up a private law practice after his military career and filed a lawsuit against the U.S. Government in 1996 to dispute the reduction in more than one million World War II and Korean War veterans' medical benefits. Colonel Day was also a participant in the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth campaign in 2004. After his presentation Mr. Coram responded to audience members' questions. close
