Freelance journalist Doug Grindle was north of Tikrit, Iraq, during August 2007. He was embedded with soldiers of the 25th Infantry Division as they performed an early morning raid on a village west of Kirkuk, searching for weapons, insurgents, and abducted Iraqis. Officers talked about the overall mission in the region. Since 2004, Doug Grindle has made nine trips to Iraq and four to Afghanistan. close
