Witnesses testified about problems with high formaldehyde levels in the travel trailers and manufactured homes provided to Gulf Coast hurricane victims by the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Testimony about the possible safety problem and FEMA’s response was heard from residents of FEMA trailers, health experts, and FEMA Administrator Paulison. Formaldehyde is a chemical used in building materials that can be carcinogenic if inhaled at certain levels.
