Diana West talked about her book, The Death of the Grown-Up: How America’s Arrested Development Is Bringing Down Western Civilization, published by St. Martin’s Press. In her book Diana West argued that Americans are in a state of perpetual adolescence that has its roots in the 1950s and 1960s. She argued that the transition to adulthood does not end until the age of 34. She contended that Americans have repressed their cultural identity as a Western civilization. The result of this repression was an inability to recognize or act on what she referred to as threats posed by multiculturalism. Ms. West responded to questions from the audience following her remarks. close
