President Joe Garcia delivered the sixth annual State of Indian Nations address. Delivered three days after President Bush’s State of the Union address, it was a forum for relaying to the president, the American public and Indian Nations the general state of America’s Indian nations. Senator Lisa Murkowski also spoke. Topics included native youth, economic development, tribal trust reform, the protection of American Indian tribal sovereignty, homeland security, and other issues currently facing Indian nations.

President Garcia and Ms. Johnson responded to audience members' questions. close
