The Friedrich-Maumann Foundation sponsored a forum on the recent events concerning the failed coup by communist hard-liners in the Soviet Union, and the ramifications of the events for Germany. The forum was one of a series of forums sponsored by the foundation on issues of transatlantic concern. Mr. Gibowski spoke on issues involved in the Soviet coup relating to Germany, including issues of security in Western and Eastern Europe, Germany’s foreign policy concerning the Soviet government and individual Soviet republics, and economic and humanitarian aid to the people of the Soviet Union. close
