German Chancellor Kohl held a news conference in the Watergate Hotel to brief reporters on his visit to the United States, including his meetings with former President Reagan in California and President Bush in the White House. After his opening statement, in which the German chancellor discussed U.S. foreign investment and said he felt German unification would not have been possible without the aid of President Reagan after 1982, the chancellor took questions from reporters. The chancellor responded to questions concerning aid to the Soviet Union, the conflict in Yugoslavia, and the newly liberated Baltic states. Translation from the German was provided by voiceover. close
