The Senate confirmed William Barr, of Virginia, to be Attorney General of the United States. The Senate passed H.R. 2280 to improve the provision of health care and other services to veterans by the Department of Veterans Affairs, after striking all after the enacting clause and inserting in lieu thereof the text of S. 869. The Senate passed S. 775, to increase the rates of compensation for veterans with service-connected disabilities and the rates of dependency and indemnity compensation for the survivors of certain disabled veterans. The Senate confirmed the nomination of Carol T. Crawford, of Virginia, to be a member of the United States Internation Trade Commission. The Senate completed consideration of the final report of the Senate Select Committee on Ethics on the matter of Senator Cranston (D-CA) with respect to the savings and loan issue. close
