In the past, the Vietnamese Council for a Free Vietnam had been opposed to such efforts because they believed that a great deal of economic, political, and social change needed to take place before Vietnam was recognized as a legitimate political power. The conference included speeches and discussions of human rights issues, Vietnamese politics, and economic development. close
