Ginger Strand read selections and showed slide pictures from her book Inventing Niagara: Beauty, Power, and Lies (Simon and Schuster). She responded to questions from the audience. In the book Ms. Strand explores the history of Niagara Falls and contends that the Falls are now more a man-made creation and less a product of nature. Ms. Strand profiles the American and Canadian sides of the Falls and the many ways that Niagara Falls has been manipulated to draw tourists.
