House Republican leaders held a news conference following a failed vote on passage of legislation on federal economic intervention in financial markets. In their remarks they said that several Republican members objected to partisan remarks by Speaker Pelosi which they blamed for poisioning the will to pass the plan. Representative Cantor held up a copy of her printed remarks to make the oint that the speech was objectionable to severl members of the conference. close
